At the parish

Parish Church - built by João Rodrigues de Freitas.  This church goes back to the time in which Henrique Alemão, nobleman of Santa Catarina, Polish prince , received lands given by João Gonçalves Zarco and built a small church.  The actual church was built around 1471, where supposedly Henrique Alemão and Senhorinha Anes are buried.

Casa das Mudas – Cultural centre, of great architectural quality in Calheta (nominated in 2005 for the Prize of Architecture Mies Van Der Rohe).

Casa Museu John dos Passos – House of the writer’s ancestors located in Ponta do Sol. It holds a good library, two museum exhibition rooms and more.

Marina da Calheta – Quality marina in Calheta. Good facilities, golden sand beach and restaurants.

Engenho da Calheta – Sugar cane factory that produces cane honey, brandy and the typical honey cakes.
